About the Scholarship
George Gerald (Jerry) Mooney Jr.
George Gerald (Jerry) Mooney Jr. was a local leader in Round Rock who volunteered his time and talents on numerous boards and civic organizations. He was a man on a mission; determined to give back to a community he loved. He was a member of the Lions Club, Rotary Club, Texas Baptist Children’s Home, Round Rock Chamber of Commerce, and was Chairperson of Frontier Days numerous times and was a member of the Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation Board. His joy was volunteering as a mentor, where he assisted students at many Round Rock ISD schools, including Round Rock High School, by volunteering in the classrooms and mentoring students; and after school he found time to coach his son’s baseball and basketball teams. George G. Mooney lost a battle with cancer in Dallas, Texas in March 1999.
Michael Clarke
Mr. Clarke dedicated countless hours as a Round Rock ISD mentor between three different campuses (Deep Wood Elementary, Gattis Elementary and C.D. Fulkes Middle School). He also served the District as a member on the Citizens Committee for boundary changes. Mr. Clarke also served as a Round Rock ISD Partners in Education Foundation Board Member and on the Executive Board as Treasurer. With a great sense of humor and knowledge, Mr. Clarke served not only the students, but the Foundation when called upon. The Foundation was blessed to have such a dedicated and loyal member for so many years
